10 Best Industrial & Scientific Products on Amazon

Amazon’s Industrial & Scientific category sounds like it sells centrifuges and lathes. In practice its best sellers are the supplies that keep a house, workshop or small business running — nitrile gloves, duct tape, isopropyl alcohol, hanging strips. We pulled the category’s Best Sellers list on August 17, 2026 and picked ten worth knowing about, all under $27.

One note on what this is: a best-of list, not a deals list. These are ranked by how well they sell and how well they are reviewed, not by discount. That is the honest framing for this category — its products are consumable supplies at steady prices rather than gadgets that go on sale. If you want percentages off, our Home & Kitchen deals roundup is the page for that.

The review volume here is remarkable: four picks have more than 30,000 ratings and two are past 100,000. These are products people buy repeatedly, which is the most reliable signal there is.

The short version
Category #1 best seller: Supmedic nitrile gloves — $8.98, 100 count Most reviewed: Presto! paper towels — 115,367 ratings Highest rated: Amazon Basics isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide — both 4.8 stars Cheapest: Duck Brand duct tape — $3.94

1. Supmedic Nitrile Exam Gloves, 100 Count — $8.98

Supmedic Medical Soft Max Nitrile Exam Gloves, Powder-Free, 100 Count
Supmedic Medical Soft Max Nitrile Exam Gloves, Powder-Free, 100 Count
Powder-free, latex-free nitrile gloves in a 100-count box. The #1 best seller in Industrial & Scientific. 4.7 stars from 29,276 ratings.
$8.98

$8.98 — 4.7★ / 29,276 ratings — #1 best seller in the category

The single best-selling product in Industrial & Scientific, at nine cents a glove. Nitrile rather than latex matters for two reasons: no latex allergy risk, and better resistance to oils and solvents, which is why they work for cooking, cleaning, hair dye and car work alike.

Powder-free is the right default — powdered gloves are easier to put on but leave residue on whatever you touch. Sizing runs snug on these, as it does on most exam gloves, so if you are between sizes take the larger one. A 100-count box sounds like a lot until you start using them for food prep.

2. Command 15 lb Large Picture Hanging Strips — 111,004 ratings

Command 15 lb Large Picture Hanging Strips, 14 Pairs
Command 15 lb Large Picture Hanging Strips, 14 Pairs
Damage-free adhesive hanging strips rated to 15 lb, 14 pairs per pack. Removable without holes or wall damage. 4.6 stars from 111,004 ratings.
$11.27

$11.27 — 4.6★ / 111,004 ratings — #2 best seller

111,004 ratings at 4.6 stars. The product that made hanging pictures in a rental apartment possible without losing a deposit — velcro-style strips that hold to 15 lb and come off cleanly when you pull the tab.

Two failure modes are worth knowing, because they account for most of the one-star reviews. First, the 15 lb rating assumes you use enough pairs and press each one firmly for 30 seconds — people who use two pairs for a heavy frame and skip the pressing get a picture on the floor. Second, they need a smooth, clean, fully cured painted surface. Textured wallpaper, brick and freshly painted walls will not hold.

3. Amazon Basics Hydrogen Peroxide — highest rated here

Amazon Basics Hydrogen Peroxide Topical Solution USP, First Aid Antiseptic
Amazon Basics Hydrogen Peroxide Topical Solution USP, First Aid Antiseptic
Standard 3% hydrogen peroxide topical antiseptic, USP grade. Tied for the highest rating in this roundup. 4.8 stars from 14,404 ratings.
$5.85

$5.85 — 4.8★ / 14,404 ratings — #4 best seller

Tied for the highest rating on this page at 4.8 stars. USP-grade 3% hydrogen peroxide is the boring, useful stuff — a first aid cabinet staple that also handles laundry stains, cleaning and disinfecting hard surfaces.

Worth knowing on the first aid front: current wound care guidance favours plain soap and water for cleaning cuts, because peroxide damages healthy tissue along with bacteria. It is genuinely useful for cleaning and disinfecting; it is no longer the recommended thing to pour on a scrape. Buy it for the household jobs and it earns its $5.85 easily.

4. Presto! Ultra-Strong Paper Towels — most reviewed here

Amazon Brand Presto! Ultra-Strong Premium Paper Towels, Huge Rolls
Amazon Brand Presto! Ultra-Strong Premium Paper Towels, Huge Rolls
Amazon's own-brand premium paper towels, 158 sheets per huge roll. The most-reviewed product in this roundup. 4.6 stars from 115,367 ratings.
$26.41

$26.41 — 4.6★ / 115,367 ratings — #5 best seller

115,367 ratings, the most-reviewed product on this page, and the reason Amazon’s own-brand paper towels keep outselling the name brands. 158 sheets per roll is genuinely large — these are the “huge roll” format, so a pack lasts noticeably longer than a supermarket equivalent.

Most expensive item here at $26.41, but this is a bulk pack rather than a single roll, so compare on cost per sheet rather than sticker price. Check the pack size in the listing before ordering — Amazon sells this in several configurations at the same product page and it is easy to buy the wrong quantity.

5. SUNLU PLA 3D Printer Filament, 1 kg — $13.99

SUNLU PLA 3D Printer Filament, 1.75mm, Black, 1 kg Spool
SUNLU PLA 3D Printer Filament, 1.75mm, Black, 1 kg Spool
Standard 1.75mm PLA filament with tight dimensional tolerance, 1 kg spool. 4.4 stars from 11,283 ratings.
$13.99

$13.99 — 4.4★ / 11,283 ratings — #9 best seller

The most-bought 3D printing filament in the category and a reasonable default if you own a printer. $13.99 a kilogram is the price point where PLA stops being a consideration and becomes a consumable.

Lowest rating in this roundup at 4.4, which is normal for filament — the complaints cluster around spool tangles and the occasional bad batch rather than anything systematic. PLA is the easy material: low printing temperature, no heated chamber needed, no fumes to speak of. It is also brittle and softens in a hot car, so it is wrong for functional outdoor parts. Store it dry, because PLA absorbs moisture and prints badly once it has.

6. Duck Brand Duct Tape — cheapest here at $3.94

Duck Brand Color Duct Tape, Single Roll, Black
Duck Brand Color Duct Tape, Single Roll, Black
Standard single roll of black cloth duct tape. The cheapest item in this roundup. 4.7 stars from 43,874 ratings.
$3.94

$3.94 — 4.7★ / 43,874 ratings — #12 best seller

Cheapest thing on this page and 4.7 stars from 43,874 ratings. There is not much to say about duct tape except that the cheap generic rolls are a false economy — they tear unevenly, the adhesive dries out, and the backing separates from the cloth when you pull it off.

The one thing duct tape is genuinely bad at is ducts, where the adhesive fails under temperature cycling. For that you want foil tape. For everything else — and there is a lot of everything else — four dollars is well spent.

7. Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover — $16.99

Grandma's Secret Spot Remover Laundry Spray
Grandma's Secret Spot Remover Laundry Spray
Concentrated laundry stain remover, free of chlorine and bleach. 4.5 stars from 38,697 ratings.
$16.99

$16.99 — 4.5★ / 38,697 ratings — #15 best seller

38,697 ratings at 4.5 stars for a stain remover that has built its reputation on the stains other sprays give up on — grease, ink, blood, red wine. Chlorine and bleach free, so it works on colours.

It is concentrated, which is why a small bottle costs $16.99 and why you should use less than you think. The technique matters more than with most sprays: apply, work it in, wait a few minutes, then wash. People who spray and immediately launder get worse results and leave three-star reviews. Test on a hidden seam first for anything delicate or dry-clean-only.

8. FYY Over-the-Door Hooks, 4 Pack — $5.98

FYY Over the Door Hooks, Single-Hanger 4 Pack, White
FYY Over the Door Hooks, Single-Hanger 4 Pack, White
Metal over-door hooks fitting doors up to 1 3/8 inches thick, four per pack. 4.7 stars from 11,450 ratings.
$5.98

$5.98 — 4.7★ / 11,450 ratings — #19 best seller

Four over-door hooks for six dollars, 4.7 stars from 11,450 ratings. The cheapest possible fix for not having enough places to hang things — towels in a bathroom, coats in a hall, bags in a bedroom.

Check your door thickness first. These fit doors up to 1 3/8 inches, which covers most interior doors in US homes but not thicker exterior or solid-core doors. That mismatch is the single most common complaint on every over-door hook sold, and it is measurable in ten seconds before you order.

9. Art3d Hook and Loop Tape, 16 Sets — $4.39

Art3d Hook and Loop Tape, 1 x 4 Inch Sticky Back, 16 Sets
Art3d Hook and Loop Tape, 1 x 4 Inch Sticky Back, 16 Sets
Heavy-duty double-sided adhesive hook-and-loop strips, 16 sets of 1 by 4 inches. 4.5 stars from 15,466 ratings.
$4.39

$4.39 — 4.5★ / 15,466 ratings — #22 best seller

Sixteen sets of adhesive-backed hook-and-loop strips for $4.39. This is the quiet problem-solver of the list: mounting a remote to a wall, keeping a rug corner down, securing cables behind a desk, holding a lightweight panel in place.

The adhesive is the limiting factor, not the velcro. It holds well on smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces and poorly on anything textured, dusty or painted-and-not-cured. For anything that matters, clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol first — which is conveniently the next item on this list.

10. Amazon Basics 99% Isopropyl Alcohol — highest rated here

Amazon Basics 99% Isopropyl Alcohol for Technical Use, 16 fl oz
Amazon Basics 99% Isopropyl Alcohol for Technical Use, 16 fl oz
99% concentration isopropyl alcohol for electronics and technical cleaning. Tied for the highest rating in this roundup. 4.8 stars from 34,471 ratings.
$7.65

$7.65 — 4.8★ / 34,471 ratings — #28 best seller

Tied for the highest rating here at 4.8 stars from 34,471 ratings. The 99% concentration is the point — drugstore rubbing alcohol is 70%, which is better for disinfecting skin but worse for anything electronic because the extra water conducts and takes far longer to evaporate.

This is what you use for cleaning circuit boards, thermal paste removal, laptop screens, adhesive residue and prepping surfaces before you stick something to them. Two cautions: 99% IPA is flammable and evaporates fast, so use it in a ventilated space away from heat, and it will strip coatings and damage some plastics and screen finishes — test on an edge before wiping a whole display.

How we picked these

We pulled the Amazon Best Sellers list for Industrial & Scientific on August 17, 2026 — 30 products — and filtered to 4.4 stars or better with at least 5,000 ratings, which left 19. From those we picked ten covering different jobs.

The filtering that mattered most was deduplication by product type. Amazon’s list is repetitive at the top: four of the 30 are nitrile glove boxes, three are Command hanging strips in different weight ratings, and there are two vacuum storage bag sets, two over-door hook packs and two PLA filament brands. Taking the list at face value would have produced a page that recommended gloves four times. We kept the strongest entry in each group — the #1 best-selling gloves, the most-reviewed Command pack — and dropped the rest.

We also dropped a feminine hygiene wash sitting at #26 with 32,927 ratings at 4.6 stars. Good product by the numbers, but Amazon’s categorisation put it in Industrial & Scientific, and it does not belong in a roundup of workshop and household supplies.

Cut on the numbers: a Tineco-adjacent mop system at 4.3 stars, two vacuum bag sets at 4.3 and 4.2, and a dishwasher pod at 4.3. Several genuinely appealing items missed the review threshold rather than the rating one — a hydrocolloid wound roll at 4.5 stars with 2,524 ratings, shipping bags at 4.7 with 1,931, Swiffer mop solution at 4.8 with 1,872. Good signs, not yet enough evidence.

Where a product has a real limitation we said so: the Command strips need smooth cured paint and firm pressing, the over-door hooks only fit doors up to 1 3/8 inches, PLA filament is brittle and warps in heat, duct tape is bad at ducts, hydrogen peroxide is no longer recommended for cleaning wounds, and 99% isopropyl alcohol can damage screen coatings.
